On the evening of 2 June 2026, a group of our dedicated team members from Everlearn Clovelly rolled up their sleeves, donned their aprons, and headed to Ronald McDonald House Randwick for a very special purpose: preparing a home-cooked meal for families staying close to their children while they receive treatment at Sydney Children’s Hospital. This is an initiative that our very own Emily Morrow has championed, along with other supports for the house for nearly 15 years.

For many families, a stay at Ronald McDonald House begins unexpectedly. A phone call, a diagnosis, or an emergency can turn life upside down in an instant. Families often travel long distances, leaving behind work, routines, and support networks so they can be by their child’s side during some of the most challenging moments of their lives.
Ronald McDonald House provides these families with more than accommodation. It offers comfort, connection, and a place to call home while their children receive medical care. One of the ways community groups can help is through the Meals from the Heart program, where volunteers prepare and serve dinner for the families staying at the House.
Our team was honoured to be part of this program once again.
Together, the team prepared, cooked, and served a hearty dinner featuring slow-cooked chicken casserole with vegetables, creamy mashed potato, steamed rice, and seasonal vegetables. From peeling and chopping vegetables to stirring pots, setting up the buffet, and serving meals, everyone played a part in creating a warm and welcoming dining experience.
While preparing a meal may seem like a simple act, it can make a meaningful difference to families who are carrying an enormous emotional load. Knowing that dinner is taken care of allows parents and carers to spend more time focusing on what matters most: being there for their child.

At Everlearn, community is at the heart of everything we do. As early childhood educators, we see every day how important it is for families to feel supported, connected, and cared for. Opportunities like this allow us to extend those values beyond our preschool walls and contribute to the wider community in a practical and meaningful way.
We are incredibly proud of our team members who generously volunteered their time, energy, and compassion to support families during such a difficult period in their lives. Their kindness and commitment reflect the values that make Everlearn such a special community.
A heartfelt thank you to Ronald McDonald House Randwick for welcoming us back and for the extraordinary work they do every day to support children and families when they need it most.
We look forward to returning again in the future.
Because sometimes a warm meal is more than just dinner. It’s a reminder that you’re not facing life’s challenges alone. ❤️
