Recently the children were very lucky to welcome S Recently the children were very lucky to welcome Suzanne from @spielfamilycoaching, a wonderful parenting and wellness coach.During her visits, Suzanne introduced the children to simple mindfulness techniques and encouraged them to think about how they can care for both their bodies and their busy minds.Together, they explored the importance of slowing down, taking a break and finding ways to relax when their minds and bodies feel busy. The children learnt about their very own superpower, the amazing ability our bodies have to help us feel calm. They discovered that one of our simplest superpowers is closing our eyes and taking slow, deep breaths. The children explored different breathing techniques, including 5-finger breathing, slowly tracing around each finger while taking calm, gentle breaths. One of their favourite activities was tummy breathing. Instead of using rocks, the children placed a soft toy gently on their tummy as they lay comfortably on their backs. They watched as their soft toy slowly rose and fell with each breath, helping them see and feel how their tummies move as we breathe in and out. These visits provided a beautiful opportunity for the children to practise being still, focus on their breathing and notice how their bodies feel. It was wonderful to see them embrace these calming strategies and discover that their bodies have their very own superpowers to help them slow down, relax and feel ready to learn.A big thank you to Suzanne for sharing these wonderful mindfulness tools with the children across both visits and helping them discover the power of their breath.#MindfulnessForChildren #PreschoolLearning #ChildrensWellbeing #EarlyChildhood #MindfulKids
We’re pleased to share that we have recently insta We’re pleased to share that we have recently installed a new Automated External Defibrillator (AED) in the office at @everlearnclovelly.This is an important addition to our preschool and reflects our commitment to making Everlearn a safer place for our children, families, visitors and staff, as well as our wider community.Around 32,000 Australians experience an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest each year. When cardiac arrest occurs, every minute matters. The combination of CPR and early defibrillation can dramatically improve a person’s chance of survival. All of our staff receive regular training in CPR and the use of an AED. The new AED we have chosen is also incredibly user-friendly and intuitive, providing clear guidance during an emergency. We’re proud to make @everlearnclovelly a community AED access point and would love our local community to know it is here. Please help us spread the word, particularly to local families, friends and neighbours who may benefit from knowing where an AED is located.Because knowing where an AED is, and knowing how to use it, could one day help save a life.#preschool #ece #clovelly #AED #CPR@randwickcouncil @marjorieoneillcoogee @dylanjparker
Last week was World Dental Week, and the children Last week was World Dental Week, and the children enjoyed learning all about their teeth and the importance of keeping them healthy and strong. The children began by discussing the different ways they can care for their teeth. They shared that they brush their teeth in the morning and before bed, and explored how toothpaste helps remove germs and keep their teeth clean and healthy. They then had the opportunity to practise their brushing skills, making sure to reach every tooth while using gentle, circular motions. To extend their learning, the children got creative and designed their very own mouths, complete with healthy, happy teeth! It was wonderful to see the children so engaged and enthusiastic as they explored the importance of good oral hygiene through hands-on learning and play.#WorldDentalWeek #DentalHealth #HealthyTeeth #OralHealth #LearningThroughPlay
This National Tree Day, our Clovelly children had This National Tree Day, our Clovelly children had the incredible opportunity to welcome @planetark and @thewiggles beloved @treeofwisdom.wiggles for a day of planting, learning and inspiring environmental action. From planting native seedlings to making heartfelt “Promise Leaves” filled with pledges to care for our planet, our children discovered that even the smallest hands can make a big difference. The learning doesn’t stop here. Thanks to the generous donation of seedlings, gardening tools and resources, our little gardeners will continue nurturing their growing garden and their love for nature for months to come.Together, we’re growing curious minds, caring hearts and a greener future.#NationalTreeDay #EarlyLearning #NaturePlay #Sustainability #Everlearn @nationaltreeday
This week, the children continued their exciting j This week, the children continued their exciting journey around the world, arriving in Asia!As they have been showing a keen interest in animals, the children began exploring the incredible jungles and rainforests of Asia, learning about some of the amazing animals that live there. The adventure continued with a fun symmetry drawing activity, where the children were challenged to complete the other half of an animal’s face. They showed wonderful concentration and attention to detail as they carefully matched shapes and features to create symmetrical pictures. We were blown away by their amazing symmetry drawings and the creativity they displayed!Experiences like these support early childhood development by encouraging observation, problem-solving, spatial awareness, and fine motor skills, while also fostering curiosity about the natural world and different environments. Through meaningful, hands-on learning, children build confidence, creativity, and a lifelong love of discovery.#EarlyLearning #PreschoolLife #LearningThroughPlay #ChildDevelopment #WorldExplorers
The children enjoyed an exciting gross motor activ The children enjoyed an exciting gross motor activity in the garden using roller boards and ropes. Lying on the roller boards, they used one hand at a time to pull themselves across the garden, building upper body strength, core stability, and coordination.Activities like these are essential for children’s physical development. Strengthening the shoulders, arms, and core provides the foundation for everyday tasks such as writing, drawing, dressing, and using utensils independently. As the children pulled themselves across the space, they also developed greater body awareness, spatial awareness, balance, and coordination, helping them gain confidence in how they move and interact with their environment.Through fun and engaging experiences like this, the children continue to strengthen the skills they need for both everyday life and future learning.#LearningThroughPlay #GrossMotorSkills #EarlyChildhoodEducation #ChildDevelopment #PlayBasedLearning
This week in Problem Solving, the children have ha This week in Problem Solving, the children have had the opportunity to develop their number formation skills by focusing on the numbers 1 through 10. They carefully traced each numeral, starting at the green dot and finishing at the red dot to learn correct stroke order. Throughout the activity, the children took their time with precision, demonstrating wonderful concentration and perseverance.Once they had completed tracing the numbers, the children matched each numeral to the correct picture representation. This encouraged them to recognise and connect numbers with quantities, strengthening their early mathematical understanding and number sense.Practising correct number formation supports fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and pencil control. Pairing visual tracing with quantity matching builds foundational school readiness by fostering self-reliance, spatial awareness, and the confidence needed to approach independent classroom writing and math tasks.#EarlyLearning #SchoolReadiness #ProblemSolving #FineMotorSkills #NumeracyInEarlyYears
The children had a wonderful morning celebrating N The children had a wonderful morning celebrating National Tree Day! The Tree of Wisdom very kindly left some beautiful flowers from Planet Ark to plant in the garden, and the children were eager to get straight to work.First, everyone worked together to choose the perfect spot for the flowers to grow. They then dug holes and took turns preparing the soil. Each child had the opportunity to carefully plant a flower and cover it with rich soil to help it thrive. Gardening with children is a powerful way to teach patience, teamwork, and a deep appreciation for the natural world.#NationalTreeDay #PlanetArk #GardeningWithKids #NaturePlay #EarlyChildhoodEducation @planetark @treeofwisdom.wiggles
The children had an exciting visitor from Clean Aw The children had an exciting visitor from Clean Away! It was a fun and interactive lesson for the children to learn about the council’s waste service. They engaged by sorting different waste items and learnt how they can contribute to waste reduction. The children had the opportunity to practice categorising common materials into recycling, organic, and general waste streams, while discussing ways to reduce single-use items in their preschool environment. They enjoyed learning a fun garbage truck dance to bring movement and music into their learning, and finished the session with an engaging story. Through these activities, the children reflected on how small individual actions help protect local habitats and land.Lessons like these in early childhood are essential as they build early civic responsibility, encourage critical thinking, and empower young children to care for the natural world. Developing sustainable habits at an early age lays the foundation for lifelong environmental awareness and respect for the planet.Thank you @randwickcouncil and @cleanawayau for running such a great program.#wasteeducation #sustainability #earlylearning #cleanaway #preschoolactivities

Today, the children enjoyed a beginning sound boar Today, the children enjoyed a beginning sound board game that supported their early literacy development. The children took turns rolling the dice and moving the marker around the board. When the marker landed on a letter, the children practised saying its sound together before taking turns at the whiteboard to find a picture that began with the same sound. They worked collaboratively, helping one another identify pictures that matched the letter sounds and celebrating each other’s successes.Experiences like this strengthen the children’s understanding of the relationship between letters and sounds, which is a key foundation for reading and writing. By identifying the initial sound in spoken words and matching it to familiar pictures, the children developed their phonological awareness, listening skills, and vocabulary. The game also encouraged turn taking, cooperation, confidence, and active participation, creating a fun and engaging learning experience that supports future literacy success.#PreschoolLearning #EarlyLiteracy #LearningThroughPlay #PhonologicalAwareness #EarlyYears
The children enjoyed helping to make mini quiches The children enjoyed helping to make mini quiches for afternoon tea by using butter knives to carefully cut the tomatoes, tearing the spinach leaves into small pieces, cracking and whisking the eggs, adding the cheese, sprinkling in the herbs, and mixing all of the ingredients together at the table. Cooking is always a favourite experience in the room and the children are excited when they have the opportunity to help prepare the food they will later enjoy eating.Cooking with children is an important part of our program as it provides opportunities to develop fine and gross motor skills, build independence and confidence, strengthen hand eye coordination, and enhance cognitive skills by following the sequence of a simple recipe. When the arrived upstairs, they were excited to di When the arrived upstairs, they were excited to discover “fairy dust” scattered throughout the Preschool room. Filled with curiosity and wonder, the children eagerly searched for clues, discovering even more fairy dust as they explored together.Inspired by their discoveries, the children decided to create a special thank you card for the fairies. They thoughtfully suggested decorating it with stars and love hearts, believing these were things the fairies would love. Working collaboratively, the children coloured, glued, shared ideas, and together wrote a heartfelt thank you message. This spontaneous experience sparked the children’s imagination and created meaningful opportunities for learning. Through imaginative play, the children developed their language skills as they shared ideas and conversations, strengthened their creativity by expressing their thoughts through art, and built positive relationships by working together towards a shared goal. Experiences that embrace wonder and magic encourage children to think beyond what they can see, ask questions, solve problems, and make sense of the world around them.Magic holds an important place in early childhood because it nurtures curiosity, inspires creativity, and supports children’s natural desire to explore and imagine. By valuing these moments of wonder, educators create rich learning experiences that foster confidence, belonging, and a lifelong love of learning.#EarlyChildhoodEducation #PlayBasedLearning #LearningThroughPlay #ChildLedLearning
